Juliette’s Journey: A New Hope

Wow!

It’s amazing how fast this last year went! I haven’t used my oven the whole year. It’s been nice having that extra space to store my pots and pans. It has been wonderful doing this experiment with my fellow fruity chicks. We have all learned a lot. I have enjoyed trying new raw recipes and finding new varieties of fruit to try. And I have also enjoyed how great I have felt eating fresh and raw!

Step By Step

My goal for this next phase in my 3 Fruity Chicks venture is to maintain my weight and solidify the lessons learned. My issue is that I tend to go up and down in my weight constantly. Right now I am pretty much at my ideal weight and I would really like to stay there. So that is what I want to work on this year. If I can maintain my weight for a whole year by continuing the high-raw/fruitarian-esque lifestyle that I began a year ago, that would be a great accomplishment for me!! I will have a cushion and try to keep my weight within that cushion and not go above a certain number on the scale. Yes, I know it’s just a number on the scale and doesn’t define me. But that number—whatever it is—represents how I feel when I eat healthy and when my system is humming along while it digests and processes the good foods I put into it.

I Don’t Wanna Work (My Digestive System), I Just Wanna Eat Healthy Food All Day

One great thing about eating a high raw diet is that I can eat what I want and how much I want and not worry about  large weight gain and bad weight swings. A healthy diet consisting of mostly raw fruits and vegetables helps control my appetite and helps maintain a healthy metabolism. Yes, there will probably be times that I don’t eat perfectly—especially during this upcoming holiday season. This last year, however, taught me that I can do it, I can make healthy eating choices no matter the time of year or occasion.

I will continue blogging here on a weekly basis, updating you with new things I am learning and sharing new recipes that bring me joy. I am a “dessert” person (more on that in the future), so you’ll see me show new ways to eat sweet things without the bad effects of processed sugars or fats. Like the rest of my Fruity Chicks, I hope you enjoy this next phase—I know I will!
